New Generation Head Up Display

Head Up and Eyes Out

A Head up Display (HUD) has the potential to realise operational advantages and performance gains. Pilots rely on a large and complex amount of information to complete their mission safely. This information must be clear and intuitive to ensure the aircraft is in a ‘head up and eyes out’ state at all times.

Saab’s new generation Head up Display system AviGuide (formerly RIGS), can be interfaced with Enhanced Flight Vision Sensors (EFVS) and flight guidance computers. AviGuide is an advanced, multi-function system combined by a simple and open architecture, allowing fast integration into new or upgraded platforms. Its capability of powerful graphics processing enables complex image rendering from  multiple sources in order to provide the crew with superior control even in adverse weather conditions.

BECOMING A CUSTOMER

Based on our very long history of head up display systems in the advanced Saab multi-role fighter aircraft, and commercial aircraft, we can help you integrate a HUD system into your cockpit. Through every generation of aircraft designed and produced, Saab has gained an outstanding knowledge of how to create the best possible interface between the pilot and the avionics systems.

Furthermore, Saab has the broad experience and established capabilities to provide installation and qualification procedures for the customer’s platform.

Features

AviGuide (formerly RIGS) increases the pilot's awareness through the conformal display. This enable faster decision making to optimise their in-flight performance. With greater and more frequent information, situational awareness is improved, along with safety, control and performance.
