The 2010 Saab 340 Global Operators’ Conference was a huge success. There were almost 300 attendees from 27 countries represented by 41 operators (100 attendees), 58 suppliers/vendors/associates (105 attendees) and 45 attendees from the various business units of Saab AB. The remainder of the attendees were spouses who were well cared for as usual.
The conference started with an appreciation dinner on Sunday evening for the significant sponsors of the event. Monday was the exhibit hall build, the lSC meeting and Technical Workshop followed that evening by the grand opening ceremony.
Tuesday was a busy day with presentations from Saab, two operators and a number of vendors and associates closing the day with dinner and entertainment on the beach under the big tent. Wednesday provided time for some additional presentations, a well attended cargo operations meeting and some high spirited team building events and of course dinner on the beach.
The highlight of Wednesday evening’s festivities was a presentation by Haken Hallborn focusing on his many years of association with the Saab 340 and 2000 projects. Gary Goodwin from the FAA was also recognized for his many years of work on the Saab projects. Thursday morning, Saab made some closing comments and turned the meeting over to GE Aviation for the rest of the morning focusing on the engine and propeller systems.
