To further improve spare parts support for Saab's commercial aircraft, Saab has purchased Lufthansa Techniks's spare parts stock for Saab 2000 in Basel, Switzerland. At the same time, an agreement has been signed regarding certain logistics operations for Saab's commerical aviation operators.
The undertaking for Lufthansa Technik Switzerland involves distributing spare parts to Saab's commerical aviation customers worldwide. The distribution centre in Basel has been fully operational since 1 November and employs about 15 persons. The centre will support the European, African, Asian and Australian markets.
“Basel is a very suitable location for guaranting high availability and therefore the fast supply of spare parts in Europe and beyond,” says Lars Brännström, Vice President, Head of Aircraft Services Division at Saab’s business area Support and Services. “Saab operators will benefit from the large stock of Saab spare parts in combination with prompt provisioning and just-in-time logistics services. We will now continue our success in logistics support through our cooperation with Lufthansa Technik Switzerland.”
Efficient support solutions are vital for maintaining and improving operational capabilities. Saab’s commercial aircraft support services have been renowned for their high quality for almost three decades and Lufthansa Technik Switzerland’s logistics service centre in Basel has been an approved maintenance site for Saab aircraft for just as long. The agreement with Lufthansa Technik Switzerland will now ensure continued rapid and efficient spare parts logistics for Saab operators. The Saab Support Office and Distribution LLC in Sterling, Virginia will remain unchanged.
