Defence and security company Saab AB will participate as the general partner at the Slovak International Air Fest 2012 on September 1st and 2nd at the Sliač Airport in Sliač, Slovakia.
Saab will be present at SIAF 2012 in Sliač. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the Gripen fighter in flight and on static display during the event. Saab will also present the Gripen Cockpit Simulator on its stand, which will be located in the public area. Invited guests will also get a chance to test their flight skills in the simulator.
“We are pleased to support SIAF as one of the general partners for the second year running, and we look forward to showcasing the Swedish Air Force Gripen on both static and fly-by displays,” says Daniel Boestad, Saab’s Vice President for Central and Eastern Europe. “Visitors to our stand will be able to learn much about our Central European activities and gain an insight into our global business and wide portfolio of products and services,” he adds.
Saab has a significant presence in Central Europe, with the Czech Republic and Hungary each operating a 14-strong fleet of the NATO interoperable Gripen supersonic fighter aircraft. Last year the Swiss government decided to negotiate with Sweden regarding Gripen as its future multirole aircraft to replace its aging fleet of US fighter aircraft. Gripen is also being marketed in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. In the Czech Republic, Saab has acquired the assets of Slavkov-based company E-COM, which develops and produces virtual simulators. E-COM has delivered many different simulators to the Czech armed forces and has achieved export success to customers in the US, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore. Gripens of the Swedish Air Force are scheduled to fly past on September 1st and 2nd. Saab's stand of 72 m2 will be located inside a hangar in the public area of the air show. You can visit Saab at SIAF 2012 from 8 AM until 5 PM on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2.
