2003 First delivery to A380. Czech Republic selects Gripen
In 2003 Saab continued to deliver good financial results and reported high order bookings.
Norway and Finland placed orders for Ceros 200 naval fire control directors, and the UK and Germany ordered simulation and training systems. Saab also received extensive orders for the Meteor air-to-air missile and portable anti-armor systems.
During the year the Czech Republic became the fourth country to select Gripen and Hungary confirmed and extended its previous order. Also, Saab and Airbus signed an agreement on the development and production of the mid and outer fixed leading edge of the A380 wing.
During the year, the latest version of the Gripen, almost identical to the export version, was delivered to Sweden.
Saab acquired a U.S. signature management company, while selling Applied Composites and several other companies outside its core business. Saab strengthened its organization through the merger of the operations in command and control systems, electronic warfare and avionics, and in part through a stronger international marketing organization
