First wing fuselage fittings to South Africa inspected

On February the 13th, a FAI (First Article Inspection) was made on the first wing fuselage fittings, destined for South Africa Gripen aircraft.

Many people involved in the project had gathered at Saab in Linköping, among them the South African customer, representatives from Saab and the Swedish Defense Material Administration.

Also attending the inspection were Marie Karlsson, Production Manager within the assembly at Saab Aerostructures.
  - This is the first unit with a complete World Wide Climate. A control is therefore made on the surface finish for example, she said.
The quality department of Saab and the South African Armscor representatives examined the wing fitting part especially close. After the inspection, the wing to fuselage fitting goes into the next building phase in the final assembly.
