Grant for further education
Employees at Saab have the opportunity to apply for a grant from the Tryggve Holms 70th birthday employee foundation for further education. Anette Oscarsson, warehouse operator at Saab Aerostructures, took the opportunity and applied for the grant. Her application was positively received and resulted in a trip to sub-supplier Denel in South Africa.
Tryggve Holm was President for Swedish Aeroplane AB during the years 1950–1967 and on his 70th birthday he established the employee foundation. The initial capital was SEK 500,000 and grants are awarded at the annual board meeting from the yield of the capital.

All Saab employees have the opportunity to apply for the grant, which has the goal of “promoting the well-being of the employee through contributing to the education, preferably abroad, in subjects that apply to the company’s area of operations”. The only requirement is that the employee shall have been employed for at least three years. The further education can be very different; either through conferences and courses, or visit for the purposes of study and studies of, for example, production processes.
Anette Oscarsson is one of the employees who received the Tryggve Holm grant. Anette has in her job as warehouse operator close contact, via e-mail and telephone, with her colleagues at Denel in South Africa.
“The Tryggve Holm grant provided me with the opportunity to see how the items from Sweden are received at Denel and how their warehouse operations function. Furthermore, it was very positive to put a face on all the people you speak with so frequently” says Anette.
By meeting each other, Anette and her colleagues at Denel could improve their continuing cooperation; something that in the long run helps to further improve the relationship between Saab and Denel. Anette also feels stronger as an individual after her trip to South Africa.
