1000th Aileron delivered to Airbus UK
The end of May a ceremony was held to celebrate the delivery of shipset number 1000 of ailerons to Airbus UK.
Ailerons to the Airbus aircraft for the single aisle family is an important program for Saab Aerostructures, which delivers over five shipsets per week to the wing production facility in Broughton.
Around one hundred participants gathered for the delivery ceremony that was held to celebrate a milestone in the program, the 1000th delivery. Pontus Kallén, General Manager for Saab Aerostructures opened the ceremony by presenting a little of the background and development of the Aileron program since the contract was signed in 2000.
“Today our aileron production routines are well established and we maintain a high performance in the program. This is a stabile program and we see possibilities of an increased rate of production in the future”, said Pontus Kallén.
At the wing production facility in Broughton, Wales, no one will fail to notice that it is delivery number 1000 from Saab Aerostructures that is arriving. A specially designed transport container decorated with the flags of Sweden and Great Britain has been produced in honor of the delivery. The 1000th aileron shipset will be assembled into the completed wing in Broughton.
