New organization launched

This month saw the launch of Saab Aerostructures’ new, sharpened organization dimensioned to take account of future capacity. This means that the workforce will be reduced by one-third and the business unit will be streamlined in several areas.

For several years Saab Aerostructures has been working on a Masterplan to rationalize the business unit. This has included reviewing costs for premises, logistics, personnel and IS/IT solutions.

In order to streamline work within the business unit further, Saab Aerostructures has now also been reorganized. For example, there is a new department for industrialization. This department will be involved even before the concept stage of a new product to help develop the most intelligent, cost-effective production method. This partly entails increasing the degree of automation and standardizing working methods.

“This will enable us to strengthen our capabilities and focus on efficient production techniques, focusing on composite and flexible automation. This in turn means we can offer innovative solutions on the structural market in future,” says Tomas Vångell, head of the industrialization department.

The organization also aims to achieve simplified flows and focused responsibility in the business unit’s supply chain, both internally and externally. The shorter lead times and better logistical solutions will lead to lower costs and increase Saab Aerostructures’ competitiveness.
“A total review of all the business unit’s costs ultimately benefits our customers,” says Tomas Vångell.
