Delivery number 100 for A340

Saab Aerostructures develops and manufactures the Pylons Rear Secondary structure, Pressurized Lateral Floor and Main Landing Gear Doors for the Airbus A340-500/600 airliner. Now, all three work packages have passed delivery number 100.

The assemblies cover technologies from conventional metallic structures to complex integrated composite designs. The work packages for the A340-500/600 airliner were the first where Saab Aerostructures was responsible to Airbus for both development and manufacture.
- We are in a position today where we manufacture many products for several different customers. In many ways we can thank the A340 programmes which have been a springboard in our development, explains Magnus Larsson, Programme Manager for A340 at Saab Aerostructures.

The floor structure is delivered to Saint Nazaire in France for assembly, and final assembly of the aircraft takes place in Toulouse. The pylons and doors are delivered directly to Toulouse for final assembly.
“During recent years we have always delivered our work packages on time. That has created to a trust for Saab Aerostructures and it further means that we are considered as a serious and reliable partner who keeps it promises”, explains Larsson.

To celebrate this milestone, a ceremony will be held at Saab Aerostructures for all employees involved in the programme.
