Saab Aerostructures refines organisation

Saab Aerostructures will meet 2008 in a new set-up. The new organisation will support new working methods and even better integration with customers and partners.

As Tier I partner Saab Aerostructures is moving towards a role as integrator in different programs and projects. The organisational changes that are now taking effect are a corner stone in adapting the business unit to this development. The aim is to be able to manage growth and increased pace in different programs and thereby increase profitability.
“Each organisation has its time and we must follow the developments in our surroundings. This is a journey that we are making and ahead of us we see growth, increased turnover, new working methods and a need to be even better at integration with customers and partners”, says managing director Pontus Kallén.

Saab Aerostructures has an intensive year behind it, with a large number of projects and programs running in parallel.
“We have also carried out comprehensive work to introduce Lean production, which we will continue to do in the coming years. Our new organisation can also be seen as a way of supporting the principles that are involved in the Lean concept,” says Pontus Kallén.

The new organisation sees different parts of Saab Aerostructures moved closer to each other.
“By making these changes we can strengthen certain areas and we see it as strategically important for the future. Reorganisation means that we combine our competences within development and industrialisation in one organisation. We unify the three different production units – part supply, composites and assembly – to what we call “one production”. Within acquisition and supply we have reviewed our capability and organised them in a new department that will be called Sourcing & Supply”, says Pontus Kallén.

From the New Year there will also be a completely new part of Saab Aerostructures. Production will be reinforced with expertise with short run and one-off manufacturing, which was previously part of Saab Aerotech.
