Company News Brief 4/2005
Welcome to this new issue of Saab Aerostructures Company News Brief.
It is something special with coming back from summer holidays. What time of the year could be better to start up something new?
We, Saab, have now been around for almost 70 years, it has been an interesting journey with development and manufacturing of a number of different aircraft. Our innovative technical skills are world-class, and we always seek to improve our efficiency, in commercial areas as well as in development and production. It has been fantastic years, and we do really look forward to the next hundred to come, even though we feel the winds of change in aviation and space industry.
Right now we are in a process of putting together a new organization, both on a corporate level and within Saab Aerostructures, to meet the requirements of the future. We, Saab Aerostructures, have to adjust to the demands of the market, and adapt to new technologies, as well as look over our own cost-effectiveness. In this issue of our Company News Brief you will learn about how we will reach our vision through a project that affects the entire business unit, the Master Plan. It is a tough challenge, but everyone at Saab Aerostructures is known for being both dedicated and highly motivated to accept challenges. And of course we have to succeed with our Master Plan without loosing focus on customer satisfaction! In this issue, we are proud to share with you our top marks from Airbus in its supplier evaluation, and our view of how to maintain equally good rating after the process we are going through.
The space field is another interesting arena for Saab Aerostructures. We are very happy to congratulate Saab Ericsson Space to their first order from Alcatel for a Spacebus central cylinder for a telecommunications satellite. Saab Aerostructures is at the leading edge of composite manufacture, and we are proud to be a supplier in this interesting program. The “shell” we will produce is strong, yet very light – just as I foresee our new organization to be.
