Company News Brief 1/2008
Welcome to the first issue of Saab Aerostructures Company News Brief 2008.

Pontus Kallén, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Saab Aerostructures
There is a lot going on right now. The interest for Gripen is perhaps bigger than ever and there are several potential Gripen customers all over the world. The most recent country to choose Gripen was Thailand that signed a deal with the Swedish Defense Material Administration (FMV) for six Gripen a few weeks ago.
In the commercial area, both Airbus and Boeing hit all time high in their order books last year. That of course reflects on our business and it secures our production for many years to come.
In Sweden, as in many other parts of the world, the debate about environmental issues is intense. The European Commission has, together with most aviation industries in Europe, taken an initiative to develop new technologies for greener, more environmentally efficient aviation. Saab contributes to greener air traffic by being a part of one of Europe's largest research programs ever, Clean Sky.
To be successful within our business it is of great importance to have an excellent supply chain. We are dependent on good suppliers to help us deliver high quality products on time to our customers. Recently we arranged our first ever Supplier Conference. A successful event that I am sure gave both Saab and the suppliers good ideas on how we can work even more efficient in the future.
Read more about the deal with Thailand, our commitment in Clean Sky and our Supplier Conference in this issue of Saab Aerostructures News Brief.
