At this time of year the Aerospace Testing Expo in Hamburg is coming up. Our experience from the last years is that the Testing exhibition is a very good opportunity for our team to increase the efficiency of Saab Aerostructures’ collaboration with colleagues and customers in the structural testing area.
In this issue of the Saab Aerostructures Company News Brief you will find information regarding ongoing structural testing operations at our site in Linköping, as well as useful information about our team in Hamburg.

Saab Aerostructures prepares endurance tests of the crew entrance door for A400M
In November last year, Saab and Airbus signed a contract for development and production of the crew entrance door for the A400M. The work package includes the business unit performing endurance tests on the door. The tests are scheduled to begin during 2006, but preparations are already underway.

Gripen export version has been tested a lifetime
The fatigue testing of the Gripen export version started in November 2003 and recently reached 8,000 flying hours, which is equivalent to Gripen’s service life. The testing is being performed by the Structural Testing department at Saab Aerostructures, one of few companies in the world that manages to perform a complete test of a whole aircraft.

Saab Aerostructures team on site at Aerospace Testing Expo
Aerospace Testing Expo is an international tradeshow for the aerospace testing, evaluation and inspection sectors. The exhibition takes place between April 5 and April 7, and an estimated total of more than 350 leading international companies are going to participate in the exhibition. Saab Aerostructures is on site in Hamburg with a team, focusing on structural testing.
