Company News Brief 4/2007
Very welcome to a new issue of Saab Aerostructures Company News Brief.
In the beginning of September, Saab celebrated its 70th anniversary together with customers, suppliers, partners and other guests. We also had a big celebration with Saab employees and their families, in total 20,000 people. It was two amazing days with seminars, exhibitions and spectacular air shows.

Pontus Kallén, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Saab Aerostructures
One thing that really impressed me when watching the air show was to see Saabs first aircraft from the 1940’s, the B17, flying together with Gripen, representing the latest technology. I think it shows that we have a history to be proud of and that Saab always develop high quality products that last long. Recently, the Swedish Government decided to further invest in the future development of Gripen. These investments, an upgrade of 31 aircraft to the latest standard and a demonstrator program, will keep Gripen at the leading edge well beyond 2040.
Saab Aerostructures has a close co-operation with Denel Saab Aerostructures in South Africa. That is why those of us working at Saab Aerostructures feel very proud when our partners in South Africa deliver aerostructures for world-leading products. Recently Denel Saab Aerostructures delivered their first top shells for Airbus military transport aircraft, the A400M. You can read more about Saab’s 70th anniversary, about the investments in Gripen made by the Swedish Government and about the deliveries from Denel Saab Aerostructures in this issue of Saab Aerostructures Company News Brief.
