Company News Brief 5/2006
Welcome to this year’s last issue of Saab Aerostructures’ Company News Brief.
Whilst writing this, Sweden has its first astronaut walking around in space, just outside ISS, International Space Station. This is a big event for our country, and we are especially happy for Christer Fuglesang, who has been waiting to leave earth for a very long time. Saab, though, has been in Space for several years! As the centre of excellence for aerostructures within the Saab Group, we have delivered products to the business unit Saab Space for over ten years and I am pleased to say our scope of work is growing steadily. Read more about this in this issue of our Company News Brief.

Being a centre of excellence within a fairly large group of business units means that you have several “internal” customers with –what you could think - more or less the same organizational culture and behaviour. But experience proves all the time that all customers, internal as well as the ones from different parts of the world have their own organizational cultures. To pave the way for successful collaboration, Saab Aerostructures has sent out employees for trainee periods to our customers, and for the last three months we have had a trainee from Airbus located at our facilities in Linköping. You will learn what Andrew Meehan thinks about us and our organization in this newsletter.
Last, but not least, I am once again proud of Saab Aerostructures’ ability to deliver on time. Our mid and outer fixed leading edge for the freighter version of A380 was recently delivered on time to Airbus UK. Read more about this and look at some pictures from our ceremonial delivery.
To our honoured readers, I wish to send to you greetings of the season on behalf of all of us at Saab Aerostructures. We look forward to a continuous, fruitful collaboration next year!
Pontus Kallén, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Saab Aerostructures
