1980s
BT 41 production is started for the German Leopard tank. A new simulation system for anti-tank weapons is introduced.
1982
Moving targets for both tanks and infantry were introduced as well as the BT 24, a new control system for targets.
1983
The BT 53 laser gunnery simulator was developed as one of the family of strap-on laser simulators developed and produced by Saab Training Systems. The BT 53 was used mainly for gunnery training for modern air defence weapons and target recognition, tracking skills and target engagement.
1984
(1984,"The BT 52 laser simulator for land to land training was launched in 1984. This simulator was used for training on TOW (tube launched) missiles. A few years later, the BT 52 simulator for BILL antitank missiles was launched.
1986
In 1986, Saab Training Systems started production of the BT 41 laser simulator systems for the Leopard-2 and Leopard-1 tanks within the German AGDUS program.
