Objectives and targets

Business units place high priority on compliance with legal environmental requirements, and continuous improvements aimed at reducing their impact on humans and the environment.

Environmental objectives and targets for products and operations are set by each business unit. The most important environmental aspects are handling of hazardous substances and materials, along with the contribution to the greenhouse effect.

Targets and programs for environmental work

The environmental policy is the foundation for targets and programs regarding handling and controlling chemical products, replacement of hazardous substances, environmental considerations in product development and design, pre-sorting and recycling of waste, energy and water saving, decreasing the need for transportation and reducing emissions to the atmosphere and water. During 2007 the business units established over 50 environmental targets.

The business units have ongoing training programs in safety and environmental matters.
