Selecting and appointing Saab’s marketing consultants
Saab has clear rules for selecting and appointing marketing consultants. Any initiative to appoint a marketing consultant has to be justified, documented and then approved at senior management level.
Prior to any appointment, a due diligence investigation of the marketing consultant is carried out, including investigation of background, ownership, references and financial status.
Each marketing consultant is made aware of Saab’s Code of Conduct, and in the agreement between Saab and the Consultant, the Consultant has to guarantee to comply with all relevant laws and regulations and not to tolerate or engage in, any form of corruption or bribery.
Mandatory awareness training
Anyone at Saab who appoints or has any dealings with marketing consultants has to undergo mandatory awareness training. The training includes the following elements:
- Saab’s zero-tolerance stance toward corrupt behaviour
- Saab’s policy related to the use of marketing consultants
- applicable international regulations and national laws
- the process for appointing marketing consultants and the responsibilities associated with the process
Business ethics are of great importance
Marketing consultants are paid for the services they provide. Payment shall be in proportion to the services provided and to the value added by the marketing consultant. Saab uses various payment models for marketing consultants, e.g. a fee in absolute terms or a percentage of the sales value for a contract, where the full payment is contingent on winning the business, or a monthly, daily or hourly fee, or a combination of contingency based payments and a retainer on a regular basis, e.g. monthly.
Saab considers a high degree of business ethics to be vitally important. The rules for how we conduct our business are in accordance with the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, the International Chamber of Commerce Rules of Conduct, and the Common Industry Standards adopted by The Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe. Saab’s compliance is monitored by internal and external auditors.
