Gripen on the short list twice more
Gripen is attracting even more countries internationally. Joining the line of countries with requests for quotes on Gripen are Switzerland and Norway.

Gripen also on the Swiss short list
Saab is also delighted to have been formally invited by the Swiss defence material administration, armasuisse, to submit initial bids. The offer to Switzerland will also include industrial co-operation characterized by partnerships of equals. The response is required to be submitted in mid-2008. Gripen is one of four invited suppliers. It is now clear that Gripen could be the aircraft replacing Switzerland’s fleet of F-5 Tiger fighter aircraft in the next decade.
Norway requests up to 48 aircraft
FMV has received a request for binding information from The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Defence to submit an offer for up to 48 Gripen aircraft. The response is required to be submitted by 28th April 2008. Also in the competition were two other fighters, the American JSF and the European Eurofighter. However, Eurofighter recently decided to withdraw from the process. Norway, which is about to replace its aging fleet of F 16’s, expects to come to a decision early in 2009.
