DiRECT - Digital Recording System
The DiRECT integrated mission recording system records the vast amount of information captured in a modern combat vehicle. Evaluating this information, whether for system development, training, peace support or in combat, will maximise the experience from each mission and enhance the efficiency for following missions.
Saab developed DiRECT, Digital mission recording and data transfer system, for recording in military combat aircraft. The system gives direct access to recorded information in the vehicle or in a dedicated evaluation station.
The DiRECT system processes and records all video and still images, audio as well as radar and bus data. By using MPEG-2 image coding, with adaptable compression rate, and solid-state mass memory, the system is well suited for environments demanding flexibility combined with high ruggedness.
